why would they do this?
why would TODA make there cam gears "kill the I in i-vtec, http://www.todaracing.com/products/h...ampulleys.html . they say in there description that those cam gears, "The TODA VTC Killer campulleys eliminate the VTC function of the K20A engine. Essentially, they remove "i" from i-VTEC." what the hell is that about,
haha, a lot of people don't like the i(intelligent) aspect of vtec because it is for gas mileage and the transition is much smoother. There is probably more power to be had with-out the i aspect of vtec... just my 2cents
The VTC part of i-VTEC controls the cam phasing. The stock cam gears are continuously adjustable by the ECU. You get the Toda gears, and the ECU no longer plays with the cam phasing and instead you have regular old adjustable cam gears. The best option would be to play with the cam phasing settings within the ECU since there definately is some power to be gained by doing so.
