Two suggestions:
Make sure it's ALL the way seated in the tranny and make sure you got the correct CV. Did you compare the new and old?

for my passenegr's axle, i have to put about 150lbs (my whole body) of weight into it.

reason why i know? i had a spare transmission sitting in my room, flipped it on its side and pretty much sat on the axle....and it clicked in.

I haven't ever done the job before myself but I believe there is a clip in there to help hold the CV axle in. You might want to check into that. Of course, making sure it's seated all the way is crucial too.

There is a compression ring on the end that will compress when sliding into the tranny, but will expand once seated inside the tranny, holding the axle shaft in place.

I've removed and re-installed mine at least 10 times, and I never had to use 150lbs of force... More like 20-30lbs for both removal and installation...
