Default gsr tranny

Does ne one have an idea how much does it cost to rebuild a gsr tranny!!! my second gear just started grinding at high rpm but does not do it at low rpm. also the 3rd has a little grind ne help would be great thanks

a lot. basically, i had the same issues and asked a local shop how much it would be to replace the syncro's. they straight out told me it would be better and cheaper for me to just buy another tranny.

thanks man!!! Guess i better find a tranny!!!! b16 and typer tranny the only difference is lsd? right?

correct. unless you get a 98+ jdm itr tranny which is basically b16 1-3, gsr 4-5, lsd, and a 4.7FD.

Thats the best tranny for me right? or should i stick with the gsr tranny? the type r tranny cost about 1200? or more right?

b16 and type r tranny's have a higher cruising speed. so at 80mph you're roughly at 4500rpm. if you can live with that definitely go for it.

iirc i think at 80 im at 4k so i guess my 500 more rpm wont make a difference!!! ne ideas where to get a good tranny?

hey can u tell me whats the difference between the 97 and 98 jdm type r tranny? is it the final drive. 4.4 vs 4.7?

the FD, and different 4-5 gears. all usdm itr trannies are the same.

here in So.Cal a used gsr transmission runs about the same as Rebuilding one

check around your local transmission shops for prices
be careful of the old "bait and switch"


junk yard wanted 750.00 inculding labor 6 month warranty

Transmisson place wanted 875.00 and included a type R limted slip
plus a 12 month warranty
