Default gsr vs ls

is there a noticable difference in size of the valve cover of the two? met this guy the other night in an integra who said he had a built ls. i then told him mine was a gsr, so we both popped our hoods to take a look. pretty sure he didnt have a clue as to what he knew because he was trying to tell me that my gsr engine was a d series single cam v tec when you could see the stamp. it gets a little better than that though, he kept asking me if i built it cause it seemed so fast. but his valve cover seemed a lot longer than mine, i thought they were close in size so i was just wondering if he even had a ls engine in it. also his definition of having a built engine is exhaust, cai, and a header.

This guy sounds like a complete tard.

While it certainly possible to built the B18B1 motor for NA performance, if he thinks your car is powered by a D16, stop wasting your time with this douchebag.

The simple way to spot a VTEC B-series head is to look for the VTEC solenoid assembly on the left side of head, near the exhaust cam.

No, it is the same size, just a different shape.

Non-vtec valve cover:

ok thanks, that what i thought, i didnt get a chance to look at his engine code because it was dark, so apparently he didnt even know what he had cause it seemed a bit longer than mine. i did notice that his intake manifold was like the type r one, or skunk 2, the way it curved up. maybe a b16? either way im sure il see him around town again then i can find out.

All B series intake manifolds curve upward except the dual stage B18C intake manifold.

The guy you talked to sounds like a guy who once told me his s2000 was pretty gutless until after 7000 rpm's at which point the VTEC kicks in and an extra 100hp is felt.
