Default viper alarm quesiton

ive searched and read that most people say the viper 791 is the best alarm. my sister just got a viper alarm(model 5000) 2 months ago on her 02 civic. and it has a killswitch so if anyone breaks in they cant turn on the car...wouldn that be better than the 791 everyone is talking about?

You really should be comparing the specs on both of them man. Why not go to viper's website or do a search of each unit? They are both 2-way alarms with simular security features with the exception that the 5000 does not include the remote start feature.

i did i just didnt understand some of the words they used like it didnt say killswitch it said something else on the 5000 that it didnt say on the other one..

The 791xv has a "killswitch". It's a relay on the starter wire.

pertty much the same unit but the 791 has better range then the 5000 and the 791 has remote start.

Yea, the remotes on the 771 and 5000 suck my ass. Granted they use a different antenna on the 791xv, it still shouldn't be as bad as it is.

so the remote on the 5000 is way worse than the 791??if thats really important then ill def go with the 791

The 5000 was never ment to have the range as the 791. And you can not use the responder antenna on the 5000. Thats were price comes in.
