2007 Honda CR-V Earns National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 5-Star Ratings in Crash Safety Tests

Torrance, CA - December 7, 2006 -- The all-new 2007 Honda CR-V has earned 5-Star safety ratings for both frontal and side impact performance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. A 5-Star rating is the highest government safety rating. With this rating, all 2007 Honda light trucks have now achieved 5-Star frontal and side impact crash safety ratings. Honda is the only full-line brand to have achieved this distinction.

"We are determined to provide Honda customers with confidence and peace of mind when it comes to safety, and these 5-star crash safety ratings for our light trucks are a great symbol of the safety our vehicles offer," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Consumers looking for trucks with the best possible government crash safety ratings can't go wrong with a Honda."

Honda's complete line of 5-Star crash safety rated light trucks includes the 2007 Honda CR-V, the 2007 Honda Element, the 2007 Honda Odyssey, the 2007 Honda Pilot and the 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup. As part of Honda's "Safety for Everyone" initiative, all trim levels of these vehicles include standard Vehicle Stability Assist(TM) (VSA(R)), standard side-curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, standard driver's and front passenger's airbags (SRS) and standard front-side air bags with a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System.

What else would you expect from Honda, eh? Safe and reliable cars that is....although the reliable part (as a whole vehicle) is yet to be determined for the 2007 Honda CR-V, I have a hunch that the new CR-V just might be reliable.

Mechanically, they should be. The K24 was carried over, although hp was increased to 166 and I believe they now have DBW (Drive by Wire) like the 06-07 Accord. The K-series seems to be a pretty reliable engine.

This is not a surprise, considering the state-of-the-art crash test facility Honda opened in Japan back in the late 1990's. Many consider that facility the finest of its type anywhere in the world.
