Default How many thousand miles before tranny fluid change?

It has been a little over 3,000 miles since my last oil chnage, and I had it changed today. But that got me thinking, it has also been a while since my last tranny fluid change, about 9,000 miles. I checked the tranny fluid, and the color is like brown/reddish/orange. Should I change the fluid soon? I was planning to change it at my next oil change, but I am not sure. I dont have the prelude car manual, so I'm not sure what HONDA recommends. Your advice?

you'll be alright. You don't have to change your tranny fluid very often. I've heard you can go a couple of years without having to change it...If you feel you need to change it, go right ahead. I usually change mine at least once a year

If it's and auto I would say every 10-15k miles, especially if the last time it was changed it was only a single drain and fill (2.5qts). As a single drain and fill only changes around 1/3 of the tranny fluid in the transmission. So I would say have it done soon if possible . If you do a search you can read my post on the SS Auto tranny's(If you have a 5th Gen Lude).

Just make sure you do it at least as often as Honda recommends and keep it documented. If the transmission falls under the recall, Honda will do whatever they can to blame you for the failure (cuz' they're real cheap). I let the Honda dealer do the fluid chage on my car, and when the transmission went TU, there wasn't anything Honda could do except replace it.

Well i was thinking of doing it earlier than what honda recommends as my car has many miles on it (137000 miles) and i would like to have no tranny problems and sadly, it is an auto lude.
