Default Engine Management and Sensors

hey all...im building up a b20 turbo, and i know all of the mechanical things i need. Now im just confused about what engine management to run, and what kind of sensors i will need. Im looking to make 550 to 600 hp, so i know i must have to replace some of the sensors and what not. i know the stock MAP wont read past 11 psi or something, so im gonna go with a 3 bar i think..would that be enough? and i was looking into the accel dfi unit for mangmnt...anyone have any info or experience with that? i have hondata s100, but i dont know if theres enough tunability with that..basically, i just want to know what mangmnt. and sensors i will need for that kind of power. and, will i need to replace o2 sensors with widebands ? i know theyre easier to tune too...

You said you had an S200 in your other thread... :thinking:

The s200 will be plenty with the boost option.

Go back to your other thread and look at my setup. The only sensor you really need to replace is the MAP. If you really want to do street tuning on it then you would benefit from getting a wideband O2, but you'd need a lot of the hardware for the S200. Shmoo could tell you more about that as he tunes Crome regularly.

As for ignition, you don't really need a full-on ignition replacement. I ran nothing more than an external coil (MSD Blaster), Magnacor wires, and NGK 2-steps colder than stock plugs for my ignition. Never had a problem.

Also, the 3BAR is good up to 43.5113213 psi. I really don't think you'll be touching that.

It's better to run colder plugs with forced induction.

Stock heat range plugs will melt. Spark plugs don't just provide spark...they also remove heat from the combustion chamber through the insulator. The longer the insulator, the colder the heat range of the plug is. In your case, you will have to run more than 2 heat ranges colder to avoid melting/fouling out the plugs.

If you are going to be using Hondata, the S300 is a far superior system than the S100 or S200. For the kind of power you are looking at, find an experienced AEM EMS tuner and use that. The amount of tunability with the EMS far exceeds any other Honda specific engine management available (Neptune is pretty close in capability to the EMS, but finding an authorized Neptune dealer/tuner can be hard if you live in a relatively isolated area).

Like Josh said, a 3 bar MAP is all you will need in terms of sensors. The stock ignition should be able to make that kind of power.
