Default Sub woofer space issues

The box is huge and is difficult to remove if need to get to the spare. Anybody built a box that will allow spare tire removal. A custom design?....Jack

yup get some quick connectors for the box, this way you just pull it right out without having to rewire anything.

My box is not so deep, so it allows for me to access my spare easily without moving the box. I replaced the cardboard like floor with something more hefty. Then I cut it into 2 pieces. The piece in the rear is bolted down and holds my speaker box, and the front piece comes right out for full access to the jack and spare.

Thx for the replies. Only having the car for a couple weeks i've been hitting the net for answers. A lot of manipulation going on out there with some awesome results.

I took a peak at what was going on in the truck department. The amp is directly behind the rear seat and is forcing the box all the way to the back. Guess i'll try and find a way to mount it to the rear seat . This should help.

Seems I could make a new box that would mount on the sides/corners that would clear out the center. Guess I'll have to put my cabinet making skills to work .

Funny thing is in the early 80's I was asked by an audio dealer to make speaker/subwoofer boxes out of particle board. I remember telling the guy this would never take. Guess I was wrong :wtcslap:

People still prefer MDF to particle board. MDF is much stronger and flexes less. Only drawback is the freaking weight. They get heavy, quickly.

Actually MDF is weaker than Particle Board(PB). Yet PB is more brittle under stress. MDF is just a better product for painting. The MDF that you find in your local HD or LOWES isnt the same as we use in the industry. There is a product call "TRUPAN" which is about 30% lighter.

I finally got around to pulling the box out and it has already destroyed the carpeted/masonite cover over the tire. Not to mention a tire without a jack . It looks like there are two side pockets in the corner just waiting for a custom fit sub box. Just gotta find the time .....Jack
