Default Break in suggestions for the Type S?

I'm hoping to pick up an '02 Arctic Blue Type S Saturday if all works out. Boy there aren't too many of the Arctic Blue around. All I seem to find are Silver. The dealership that has it, is 150 miles from my home.

What is the best break in procedure for the Type S engine, such as speeds and such? I'm not one who likes goes out and starts burning rubber and high reving the engine the same day I bought it. With all my vehicles, and motorcycles, I've had, I've pretty much changed the oil the first 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, and then the normal recommended 3000 miles after that.

When is the Type S engine considered broken in? I know w/my Toyota Tacoma 4x4 w/the 3.0 liter V6, I was told, by several mechanics, that it was around 15000 miles before being considered broken in.

After break in, I plan to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Any recommendation on when to switch over? I was figuring on my 6000 mile oil change. I know that the Porsche's and Corvettes come from the factory w/ Mobil 1 already in them before any break in.

Does the transmission use regular 75-90 gear oil or ATF? Anyone switch over to synthetic oil w/it?

Does Acura offer a high flow, recleanable stock intake air filter for the RSX Type S? I don't like the K&N's too much. You can see right through them, which means some dirt can get through. I wonder if Amsoil makes one for it? I run the TRD recleanable one in my Toy.

What about the Mobil 1 oil filters? Is there one available for the RSX Type S engine?

I'm planning on eventually putting a LSD in it, I found someone selling the Type R's for the Type S. They're around $900. I wonder why Acura didn't include one in the Type S?

Thx.

wow, if you were over on clubrsx, i'd make you search

wait the full 3 or 5k the first oil change.....rumor is that the oil has stuff to properly break the engine in..... the manual says every 5k change the oil, and thats for the "SEVERE" conditions, so thats what i do.

don't ask me about synthetic though, you'd have to visit over there for any help on that topic, and the rest

they left the lsd out because there is no doubt the r will get here, it's just when will they bring it, it'll be a few years, and it'll give the r some distinction.

Thx for the reply.

Is the Type R the Japanese version of the S, but w/the LDS and the more HP. Are they essentially the same engine?

With the original oil, I've heard some say as you do and some say that it is just standard oil.

well, the reason i say it is special oil, is something in the manual, or somewhere in our literature on the car, it talks about that bein a break-in step. i've heard some people have had pil consumption problems that changed it early..... dunno, i've gone 5k each time and i'm at 23k and over the course of that mileage, the lowest i was, was halfway between the two dots ( if i remember right ) and i had a firebird that ate oil like gas, so that's nothing in my mind

yeah, the jdm type-r, still gets the integra type-r name, 220 ( 217?) hp, lsd, no sunroof, tighter gear ratio... the aussie type r has the lsd, but the type s motor i believe.

the engine i believe has different cams, and i know the compression is boosted (don't quote me on the cams, i'm a little shaky on that one )

any more questions you have, i might not be able to answer, but one of the people on clubrsx might be able to, good luck
