Default realistic 1/4 mile?

buying a motor that ran a 13.1, n/a, in a del sol. ran a 12.1 on nitrous (100 shot). putting it in my del sol, gonna push 10+ psi with my turbo kit. realistically... should i expect similar ETs? looking for high-mid 12s. wantin' to show my step dad up in his '03 cobra

there shouldnt be any reason why it couldnt run 13.1 N/A, unless the motor is hurt.. Another big factor is the driver..

I dont know much about boost, but 10 PSI seems a bit low for a built motor..

it's already pushing near 300 hp. 11:1 compression. i'm gonna drop it slightly... prolly to 10.1 and run low boost. 350hp-450hp... i think i could get it in mid 12s to low 13s... if i can get traction

You're killing me with this man. I pushed 457 whp on a FULLY BUILT B18C1 on 23 psi. Your numbers are sorely bloated. :uhhok:

Additionally, your time is not determined by your motor and the power it makes. It's specifically reliant on your ability to drive, the strength of your tranny/differential/axles/clutch, the type of tires, suspension, and environmental elements; not to mention the condition of the track. You're only setting yourself up to a) look like a fool - b) disappoint yourself.

I ran a 12.6 at 114 on Falken Ziex street tires in humid-ass Montgomery, AL pushing about 12.5 psi and making about 290 whp. I then built it up to 457 whp with BF drag radials, 11.5lb / 15in Konig Heliums, an all OEM GSR tranny, NAPA OEM axles, ACT XT-R6, and was only able to get a 13.0 here in farily cool, dry CO at about 124 mph. I couldn't get it to stick to the track and I knew that if I wanted to put it into the 10's, which I have no doubt it could have run, I'd have to get an LSD, massive axles, and slicks.

Hence, there's a lot more to track times than the power your motor puts out.

i know theres more to it than that. suspension is my next worry, after i get the power there to work with. i've got 500 hp rated axels, i have slicks, and i'm ordering an LSD. i know i can drive it to a sub 13.0 1/4 mile. i got my step dads svt cobra to a 12.3 after his repeated 13.4s. i can get it there, and i have the setup (minus suspension). i was simply asking if that kind of power could get me there or not. keep in mind... i'm used to a 15/16 sec d15b7 i juss wasn't sure if i could really run that fast on this setup, thats all. i'm well aware that it takes more than power... otherwise that cobra would have broken 12.5s in '03

A D15B7 with all the bolt-ons you can find will run in the mid/high 16's at best.

Also realize that a Cobra's torque curve is drastically differnet than a Civic/Teg's. Because ours is so flat, they tend to just sit there and spin whereas a Cobra's is high at the launch and drops quite a bit into second so the launch torque will shoot it out of the hole and the drop in torque will allow you to gain traction for the rest of the track.

I'm anxious to see what you'll put down, but I'm more interested in actual dyno results and actual timeslips.

i can't touch him with the d15. i'm well aware i hope that the new setup will give me a chance. he can't run under mid 13s... so i think i can get him.

believe me, my ETs as well as the dyno results won't be posted without copies of the sheets.

Track times are all about the driver. If you can't drive it doesn't' matter how much power your car is putting down. Goodluck at the track though when you go, its definately a fun time
