Default Intake Spot for Boosted Application Question

Hey i was just wondering, in a turbo setup, would forcing air directly into the exhaust manifold, like a 5th pipe from another intake with intercooler going in right where the 4 others meet into the turbo. in an attempt to make ram air from the upper grille.

or would it be a better idea to direct it stright down into the intercooler piping in the front bumper.

if the hood is already vented i want to make the most use of any openings i have

Um, what?

Most turbos need an intake arm & filter...

Holy shite, If you plan on going the Turbo route then you better pay someone to do it. The intake for a turbo app. needs a filter and a tube(optional). I used a 4'' filter right on the intake side of the turbo. You also can use a intake pipe so it puts it away from the turbo. If you put a pipe that goes directly into the exhaust mani. where the four cylinders meet up to a flange that bolts to the turbo then exhaust would just bypass the turbo and exit through the "ram air intake" you speak of doing. If you did that you would not get any boost. That is my asnwer for what i understand of your question.

alright that's kind of what i was worried about. would it then be a bad idea to just wrap the intake from the side to the front grille, given i fabricate a custom intake pipe with an integrated intercooler also custom made.

The pictures are far from technical but you should get the idea.

Plain Ram Air Style (obviously a filter would be somehow implemented)

With Intercooler

My bad damnit, i wasnt thinking as i rushed this

I'm just trying to find a good use for the front grille opening!
Any help would be great on that matter.

And I dont feel like drawing an entire turbocharger b16a2/b18c1 engine assembly, that would take hours!

would forcing this air into the inlet hole on the turbine of a turbo be of any help?

um...air dosent enter the intercooler from the front like some kind of filter, its an air to air cooler. do some more research on how turbos and intercoolers work then get back to us

It might, cause it would be cold air but what you drew was the air being forced directly into the throttle body. Just put a filter ans pipe on the intake side of the turbo and call it good.

Yeah sorry about the bad diagram, but wouldnt a pipe leading from the front grille filled with air be more efficient than just a pipe and filter, being the air is coming from the air that going over the car rather than around the bottom of the bumper being i'm going to have the foglights over the front bumper vents? Though i guess the air under the car might be just as good, just looking for something custom.
