Default Canadian 1997 Civic EX HP?

Hello all,

I've searched a lot of forums and the web for the stock engine spec on my Civic, but couldn't find any. Do you guys know what's the spec for this civic. The US EX model is about 127 HP. I don't think mine is 127 HP cause it's too slow. It's in the garage right now for clutch replacement. And I'm also thinking, what could be a good engine to swap easily that requires less work to get more power that has around 160 HP? Thanks a lot.

The two models are different, the US EX is the Canadian SI.Your car has about 106 BHP or so I do beleive - d16y7 if I'm correct? Oh well, there is enough people to correct me if I'm wrong.

A good engine swap to easily hit 160 hp would be dropping in a b16a2 - they are from the Canadian SIR, or the American SI. That motor starts at 160 without mods.

Yeah, but a Canadian SIR is the same thing as an american SI... just different trim names.

Thanks for the info, ye my car is very slow...I thought it was 127 HP because of the reviews I read. When I was first learning to drive it I thought it was fast but after a month, it became slow. Canadian models can mislead buyers because most reviews are for US models. What a drag.

Uncle sam leaves yanks more money to spend with lower taxes. So there's more demand for higher end cars.

... they are the same car! In Canada and Japan they are SIR, in US they are the SI... not sure why, but that is how it goes.
