Default 98 Si "Funny" sound

It only happens when I'm light on the clutch, but it doesn't sound like a clutch sound to me. Sorta like a high whinning sound (not belts or power steering) with a frequency that matches my engine RPM. It doesn't happen if I'm a little more aggressive with the clutch, or even if i dump it. Clutch feels fine, shifts nice. Can someone help me out?
Thanks.

also another thought you got a after market stereo and speakers in it, b/c you migh be getting some engine noise through the system that sounds like whinning if that the case youll have to buy a noise filter.

I had that sound on my car, it went it away when i change my brakes. Check your brakes out, they might be grinding against the rotor while driving due to uneven pad wear.

yes i do live in canada. and it's got a D16Y8. No it's not a new clutch, and no it's not coming through the sound system. I don't hear it all of the time. Only when in let the clutch out when starting off. Doesn't sound too serious. I'm probably due for a new clutch soon anyway, my girlfriend taught herself how to drive stick last summer.
thanks for your help people.
