Default Tranny issue

Where would be a good place to look for a JDM ITR tranny? My third gear is giving me serious problems when shifting at high RPMs. Or would it be easier (cheaper and worth it) to just get the third gear synchro looked at/changed?

If you have the time and place to do the work yourself then just replace the syncros. Ck out http://www.gearspeedinc.com/ for affordable syncros, I have used them myself w/o any problems.

Thanks, good stuff. I think I will try it myself first and if it doesn't work, I'll buy one rebuilt.

Gear Speed sells the carbon-coated synchros separate from the synchro set (which includes: hub, sleeve, and a pair of brass synchro rings). You end up having to buy a synchro set ($165) and a set of carbon-coated synchros ($150). You can sell the brass synchro rings.

The long part number transfers over to a Honda part number, so you can buy it from a Honda dealership....sometimes at a lower cost than from an Acura dealership.

Look up the part number here: http://www.barancoacuraparts.com

And, compare it with here by pasting the part number into the part number search box: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
