Default ECU problem

I have a honda civic 93 with a d15b vtec SOHC engine. I just got a p28 ecu and the vtec is not kicking in. I installed myself was i suppose to go a professional shop to get it done.

well what was the original motor that was in your car? is it a dx, cx, or vx?

If so you need to wire up vtec. If it was an ex or si you should already have vtec wired.

What engine wiring harness are you using?

this has nothing to do with obd wiring, that motor is the correct obd for your car.

So you have a DX.

Dx means no vtec wiring from the factory. You need to add 2 wires if I remember correctly.

The vtec solinoid goes to pin A4 on your ecu, I'll show you how later I'm heading to the gym right now.

The vtec oil pressure goes to D6.

I don't think the p28 has knock so no need to worry about wiring a knock sensor.

quoting myself...i love it. anyway...forget about the iab surge valve knock sensor in this link. bam is corrcet. just take a wire from your vtec solenoid and hook it directly to the ecu in this format. a4 and d6 are the ones your concerned with. go buy some wire loom so you dont have wires running through yourt engine bay.

actually, if you want to do it nice and oem like, paypal me $5 and I'll mail you out 4 wires. Two to go from your firewall plug to your ecu, both with ecu pins on one side and firewall pins on the other. The other two wires will go from the firewall plug to your vtec solinoid and your vtec pressure sensor.

All four wires will have pins on both ends so you just have to plug them in and zip tie them in a good spot away from heat
