I know that my CX motor had 4 valve relief pistons, but does yours? not sure if they all did or not but thats def. something to look into..There is no walkthrough needed except for the wiring I think..thats probably the hardest part, its the same as taking your cx head off and putting it back on, just take out the oil jet in the middle of the block or you won't have vtec.

the head im puttin on is a d16z6
im fairly confident in doing it myself...... i just want to be sure i know what i need..... cause.... kind of hard to drive to pep boys without a head on.... litaraly.... tee hee hee...

and will it hurt it i dont wire up vtec immediatly? my biggest concern is the damn wiring and distributor

also... theres another head for 60 bucks without intake or valve cover.... im gettting pre stage jitters like a little school girl.

$200 head witih intake and cams and valve cover? or cheaper one with just head? ahhhhh the humanity

i guess my main concern now is making sure i have everything that i cant re-use cause no one is straight foward with that. i've read posts saying i can use my old intake manifold and some saying a need a z6 one. little things like that are getting my panties in an bunch.

The head swap won't make that much of a difference.

what is slowing you down is your transmission. You need to switch to a P20 B000 transmission or a P40 B000.

The CX gears are ridiculous. Swapping your trans would easily cut a full second off your quarter mile time and make the car much much more livable

if you're doing the VTEC swap anyway, you'll want the better tranny. I had a '92 CX with a z6 swap, and lemme tell you, there was no way to shift and keep the engine in VTEC, unless you had like a crazy 10k rpm motor. I agree with what bambrose said, the tranny is a very important part of the equation. Of course just getting the VTEC head on and working is a good start too. Good luck.
