Is my car dying?
Mar has been heating up bad, engine coolant has been leaking and the heater went out. I was told that it was the sensor was out therefore I replaced the sensor and it worked cause it was not heating up so I did a tune-up then my radiator water started leaking so it's heating up again and I was told it might be a cracked head and I should work on my valves. does this sound consistent??

It doesn't look like its the radiator itself. It looks pretty confusing cause I can' t see a hose near the leak either. I guess my car will need a lot of TLC. How much though and can I take it to any mechanic??
hmm....it depends. rebuilding is going to be expensive. you can probably go to a good honest mechanic and they can find a used one for you for probably pretty cheap. with 180K miles, you might want to think about buying a used entire short block. That is probably the best way to go. This way you have less miles on the bottom and the top end.

With a head rebuild, you are easily going to spend that much, and then you are going to have to look at the downside of still have high miles on the bottom end.
Tell your shop that you would like to replace the entire engine block with a rebuilt block or one with under 70-80K miles and see what they quote you. If they quote you anything under $800, then go for it. Chances are that if you get the block from them, labor will be much cheaper. If they quote you above that, order the block from hmotorsonline.com and have them install it.
hmotorsonline.com has great customer service and are always willing to help.
Good luck.
Honestly man, its hard to say what it is without taking a full look over the WHOLE front of the car. I can say that mechanics at the dealers sometimes try to tell the customer that it needs something that takes a while to do because of the money. If you have a mechanic that you trust, or a place that does really good work that doesnt have a bad name, like a garage somewhere where mechanics do honest work, i would take it there. its great to get a second opinion on things, and I myself wish I could look over it. But you almost NEVER want to go with just one opinion, especially from a dealer.
