What setting to set multimeter on?
I bought a $20. multimeter from Autozone.Its a ACTRON brand.
Im testing the coil and ignitor in my distributor. My HELMS says to put the + at the A terminal and - at the B terminal and I should read 0.6-0.8 ohms.
What setting to I put the multimeter on?
Also it says resistance will vary with coil temp., specs. are at 68 F.
How much will it vary with it being 59 F outside?
Thanks

Man, that is a question for the OWNER'S MANUAL for the multimeter...
The resistance on the coil won't vary enough to require using a different setting on the multimeter. Seeing as how the Helm's says it should read 0.6-0.8 ohms anyway, and you're talking about 59 deg instead of 0 deg, you're not going to see much variance in the expected readings at all anyway.

for what reason are you trying to test that. If you can tell me what your trying to a complish i might be able to help. I install alarms with remote start so i have to use meters all the time at my work. what kind of car do you have.
Yeah put it on the ohms setting.
It's funny how sometimes people will try something on all the different settings and then when they get one that reads that they'll be like "yep that's it"

probably because thats the FSM's method of testing it
