Buying a car from out of state
Ok, I live in Pennsylvania and I am purchasing a 1995 Civic ex with 55k miles on it (teal) and I was wondering hwo does the titling situation work? What about state inspection and stuff? Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Last time I bought a used car in PA from a dealer. They gave me a 30-day temporary plate and I could drive it home , had it registered and inspected. Last month I bought I Civic from a guy in NY but with a NC plate. I drove the car back with his plate, had the car registered and I sent off the plate to him then. That's the easiest way I guess.
Here are my suggestions on bringing the car home;
1. Drive it home with that guy's plate and a signed title (you have to make the guy trust you :P). Send back that plate once you register the car.
2. Get a temporary plate. This will cost you $$, depends on the state.
3. Ask the guy to send off the signed title. Do the registration, take you plate to the car and drive it back.
Those are based on my experience.

I'm from PA and when I purchased a car out of state (3 times) I was told by Brimmer's (tag place) to just use a plate off one of my cars to drive it back. Sign the paperwork from the seller, bring everything to a notary/tag place and pay the tax and tags fees and you are good.
I would call to make sure of it though.
