Engine swap or rebuild?
well my boosted civic EX is hitting 130,000 miles now and i was wondering if i should just swap in another d16y8 and swap in a manual,or just do a manual swap and rebuild the d16 i have now! 90,000 of the miles are interstate and it is a honda for crying out loud! I figured that if i replace the pistons, rings, rods, etc. and get the head cleaned up real nice and stuff, and keep up with maintanace if i will be ok!what do you guys think?
ok im guessing ur car is auto? since u mentioned having a manual swap... anyways... i would buy another D series *they are cheap as hell* build that up to whatever specs u want to take more boost from that turbo setup... faster and if built right as reliable as a stock B18A/B/C Type R swap... get what im saying... but yeah if ur gonna keep it boosted u should get a manual swap anyways cuz honda autos dont last too long lol
nope, do this. BOOST THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THE D YOU HAVE NOW UNTIL IT BLOWS THEN SWAP IN A B16 or B18 !!! Use it until is blows. 130,000 miles ain't shit. I had a buddy boostin 10 lbs. at 172,000 and finally blew at 190,000. BOOST IT BABY

depends on your funds..
if u go with a b-series swap u'r gonna need a different turbo mani & a bunch of extra stuff..
B's & D's are bout the same price anymore, not really any price difference, just the additional crap u'r gonna need like ECU / Mounts / Ect. that will add up a bit.
personally if u'r looking for mild power above stock (200-250hp reliably) i'd just stick with the D & make it manual.
Best of luck to ya.

I say stick with a D.
If boosting there is no reason to have a B, unless you are looking for 400whp+
the d can do everything a B can up to that point, for less money. and less money for replacement parts..
so its kind of stupid to go b
