Oversize oil filter for '99 2.3L
anyone know a good oversize oil filter for a '99 2.3L? I can't seem to find a large diameter filter with the right gasket size.
also - what is the factory bypass valve spec? the bypass pressure seems to vary by aftermarket filter manufacturer.

planning an auto-rx cycle and want a bigger filter to catch the excess grime. also, for regular driving, I think a bigger filter will flow better, reducing the chance the BPV will open and allow unfiltered oil into the engine.
I put on a STP 3950 - it appears to be the exact same construction as the M1-105, with the same thread end BPV. in fact, the autozone I was at had several STP3950's in the M105 boxes. strangely enough, some of the STP3950s on the shelf did have a different construction - lighter weight with a clicker BPV on the closed end like all the other cheap champion-made filters like super tech and valuecraft.
anyway, the M105 and STP 3950 are huge filters - much larger diameter than stock but have the same threads and gasket.

My local Honda dealer just sold me a much smaller oil filter than the original filter for my '02 Accord (4 cylinder Vtec), and says that Honda has made a "running change" from the original somewhat larger filter (that came on the car when new) to the smaller outside diameter one. The threads, gasket seating area, etc. match up, and he further stated that they use the same (size and construction) filtering material in a smaller outside metal casing, and that it matches the performance specs of the original ones. And he added "that Honda did that due to the CRV's using a smaller filter and they wanted to standardize all their filters" (various 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. engines - didn't mention the S2000 however)
Seems more like a 'cost savings' move on Honda's part; does anyone have any factual info on this?
