h22 or h23?
ok well i am about positive that i wanna do the swap now. i just can't decide which to do? i can get the h22 for like 2100 complete...but haven't checked on the h23 (anyone have a good idea?). is there that big of a difference besides vtec? HP differences? i just want the 94 accord DX 4 dr. to be fast. as of now i have the $ for the swap and maybe a few mods...but through time hopefully a full build. any advice would be appreciated.
o does anyone recommend a good place to get an h22 or 23? i know of a few, but don't really know anything about them.
...thanks...

Go with the h22. You could always find a shop to build you an h23vtec, which utilizes an h23 block and h22 vtec head. However this can get pricey and in depth, it needs to be built right.

The H23A / H22A relationship is similar to the B18B / B18C1 relationship. One is VTEC the other is not. I personally would just shop around and buy an H22A. You might as well spend the money now and get the better motor. The price difference shouldn't be a big difference anyway. Seeya.

The reason most H23A/H22A combinations don't work that well is people don't realize there is a lot more to an LS/VTEC than just a VTEC head. I'm not really familiar with H22/H23's, but I know with an LS vs a GS-R, there is a higher flow oil pump, differently geared water pump, oil squirters and a block girdle (among others) to strengthen the engine in a B18C1 that a B18B doesn't have. If you put a B18C head on a B18B block without upgrading the rest, your going to find out why everybody says LS/VTEC's aren't reliable. Most likely there are similar modifictions that are nessicary to make an H23/VTEC run reliable for a long time. Seeya.

yes a h23/vtec is just like doing a lz or b20/vtec. im not sure why they never run right but i dont know anyone that has one that does.
well i know of one person. he races a 5th gen prelude in the speedvision world challenge. he came to the ECHC race 2 weekends ago, thats where i met him. he has h23/vtec and is supposedly putting down 217 hp, has motec engine management remote resovior shocks, blah blah.... alot of mess that is illegal in honda challenge. there is another guy that runs a 93 prelude vtec. he puts down 181hp, all he has is boltons and koni yellows with custom GC springs.
we were at lowes motor speedway where HP matters going around the oval and the 93 lude was running away from the speedvision car. stick some type S pistons in ur h22, mill the head and get some good engine management. dont waste your money on a h23/vtec

im not hatin on franks in general...... jus the h23/vtec. we run a b20vtec in our race crx that we are perparing for honda challenge. doing the h23/vtec is a waste of time. i mean when a fully sponsored race team cant get it right.....
