Im not really sure, both cars have disadvantages and advantages.... i have seen a stock for stock R and Type S go up against each other at the track.... the R won.... next run was the S, then the S again, i think its all driver....

not sure though.... ive never owned either, just driven them

there is only a 13hp and 12ftlb differnece between the typer and the types, it is a drivers race. However, the type r has an LSD which helps off the line...id have to say stcok for stock, the type r but not bc it has more torque but because it has an LSD and has a longer rpm range, for those short stints in low gears...

ONLY a 13HP 12ftlb difference between the two he says.

That's quiet a difference in a naturally aspirated HONDA.

are we talikng dc5 type s vs. dc5R?
if we are then definitely the dc5R will win hands down
no matter how hard the new usdm type s tries, it will never be a true Type R
for 05 its only a 10 hp difference now since the s is rated at 210hp
if we are talking dc5s vs. dc2R it will be a closer race, in the end the s will pull a lil harder since its got a little stronger top end
so it may be faster 1/4 mile than a dc2R, again it will never be a type r
my 2 cents
