Default Need to prove a buddy wrong, Help!

Curious as to how much HP your RSX's have.

My friends buddy has an RSX. I want to prove him wrong thats he doesn't have the HP he says he has.

Umm where to start. He bought the car off a drug dealer that drove the engine hard everytime he was in it. It was stock except he lowered it and had some OZ wheels. Now its in my friends buddies possesion. When he got it he said the car has over 200hp (Reg. RSX = 160hp, RSX Type-S = 210hp). So i figured it was a Type-S, even though the original badges are still on the trunk their is no indication that its a TS.

So he saved up some money purchased a Xenon kit, purchase cheapo dual pipe exhaust from a car modification place (its a more expensive Wal-Mart auto section lol ), its called JB's PowerCentre. I think the exhaust is called RActive or Ractive, whatever its the worst exhaust ever its not even stainless, its rusted to the max.

He just recentley purcase a turbo system, with intercooler (apparentley its a intercooler meant for a beafier engine). When installing the intercooler they had to cut out part of the inside of the bumper for it to fit (bumper looks fine).

All in all he hasn't taken it to a Dyno yet (hes planning on it). He says he pushing way over 300hp ( BULL TWEET!!). Hes continuing on the same driving technique as the previous owner by driving it hard everyday.

Should i be gullable enough to believe him, that his car is that good?. Can some of you tell me what you guys have for HP and if so is my friends buddies car has what he says it has.

*probably wondering why i should care, its cause my close friend tells me how good his friends car is everyday. Its making me mentle. *

Don't hate. If the IRS doesn't find out, the IRS doesn't find out. Seriously, put down the hateraide for a moment.

Here's some ways to spot the 200hp Type-S (K20A2 engine 02-04) and 210hp (K20Z(1?) engine 2005-200?)

- The stock taillights on 02-04 have little rounded "altezza" like bottoms. They also have an orange piece for turn signals. On 05-?? they are all red and are redesigned all flat.
- The stock headlights on 02-04 are clear and orange and are shaped like the taillights in the respect that they have rounded edges for a "sporty" feel. The 05 is a typical headlight design and are black.

I'm pretty sure there's more changes, but that's the way to tell easily.

Also, it's normal to have to cut your bumper to fit an intercooler. Most "bolt-on" kits don't make you (pushing 6-8psi doesn't require a $1500 spearco/hks/greddy fmic) but for a good custom turbo setup with engine managment yeah heh big is good.

With a "bolt-on" kit, stock Type-S is about 160hp at the wheels, a turbo'd Type-S with a conservative tune (i.e. no internal motor work) would hit 220-240hp depending on tune.

If he dropped in a K-Pro or AEM EMS or something like that, and did some motor work, you might want to watch out.......

...but $10 says he's full of shit :dunno:

Put it on a dyno...you will know the HP/torque at the wheels then.

ummmmmmmmm a turbo type S is 315hp and 285whp @ 10psi. And yes it is reliable at 10psi as a daily driver. The K20A2 is a strong engine, just dont overheat it, the stock connecting rods are soft.

Just check the right side of the block for the engine code. Its located just under the throttle body on the block. K20A3=base rsx and K20A2=typeS. The Type S is extremely friendly to boltons and benifits drastically. I have a stock typeS with topfuel cf intake and i pull 3 1/2 car lengths on 1997 GTs with exhaust, 2 car lengths on Z28s, and oddly 3 car lengths on other Type S's. I am alomost posotive i got a "factory freak". But it may just be the fact that i know how to drive...2 SCCA racing licenses and have been racing since i was 14....but thats me.
