97 Honda civic factory cd player

97 Honda civic factory cd player
Well I decided to put in my factory deck back in and I ran into two problems.
1- the radio plays fine for about 5 minutes, then starts cutting off for about 10 seconds every 30 seconds or so. The only idea I can come up with is somehow the heatsink was separated from the unit somewhat and it is overheating. But, the reciever doesn't actually cut off, only the noise goes away.
2- the cd player wont work. I can't eject, and the illumination does not light up. What does the cd player need to work? I reconnected the only cable I saw going from the cd player to the reciever.
