Question for all 2003-present Accord EX owners (can be with or without Nav).....
Who here has upgraded their stereo while keeping the head unit stock? I'm thinking of buying an '05 EX V6 6MT w/o Nav, and I would like to install some nice Boston Accoustic speakers and run my Alpine and Pioneer amps. However, I don't want another head unit installed or the dash modified in any way...... I just want to keep the very nice looking stock integrated climate/audio controls and steering wheel controls.
So I would like to know who has done this, and how it worked out for you.
Thanks.

Got My Sound System Almost done. I' using the stock Headunit and Infinity
7541a Amp 139 Watt x4 into 2 Ohm Infinity 6x9 and 6.5 Coaxial. Also replace the front tweeters with Rockford Fostage 3/4" 100 watt units. Also Infinity Basslink II 250 Watt Self powered 10" square Sub. And Sony mx-575? 10 Disc Changer MP3/CD (using PIE adapter from OEM Radio).
It sounds great, good tight bass and lots of trunk room left. I do get some "hiss" from the OEM radio at the quietest of setting. but I have it set up for alot of gain !!! I rigged a high/low 4PDT range switch to allow for Ultra quiet when parking/engine off. Check out Attached Pics. Rock On...

It is definitely do-able, and with the proper tuning of all gain controls, you should get a clean sounding stereo. Maybe if you have the extra money, integrate an Audio Control EQS to take the speaker level signal, process it and give the amps a very clean signal, you'll just need to have it properly tuned with an RTA for the best sound.
