Default 2005 Accord Coupe w/navi (audio question)

I have the accord coupe with navigation. I want to install after market stuff in the car. I kind of ran into a problem.

I want to get an mp3 head unit installed, which the accord has a spot for. When i went to a place to see how much it would cost for all my audio system to be installed the guy told me he cannot install the head unit because it would knock out the audio system in the navigation screen. I guess that made sense BUT i also know as an accessory honda offers a mp3 player. I'm thinking how can they add this mp3 without messing up the navigation... Isn't possible to install a head unit in the accord without disabling the navigation system?

I'm thinking that in this spare spot they'll be some type of wire harness un-used since i did not get the extra option through honda.

Hard to type into words what i'm trying to ask. If any of you understand what i'm trying to find out please help!

Simpliest form of question, Is it possible to install an after-market head unit without messing with the navigation settings?? Will the regular radio, xm radio and original radio still work?

Thanks!

I'm guessing here, but ...

There's 1 port in the back of your headunit. That 1 port can be used for an add-on-item such as xm radio, navigation, a cd changer, or the mp3 player.

When looking at this installation manual, http://handaccessories.com/accord/04audio.pdf , I see there is a " Y " shaped splitter cable. If you have XM and navigation, both split signals are occupied. If you wanted to remove the XM, you'll have one spot open for the MP3 player.

The MP3 player has a list price of $403.20 and plays MP3 cds. That's it. For that price, I'd rather get an iPod with this.

the Belkin Tunebase

it broadcasts the iPod over an FM signal, so no additional wires are needed. The sound isn't as clear as a CD, but this might be your best option for MP3 playback.

wait a second.

looks like the XM tuner is already FM modded according to this diagram.
http://handaccessories.com/accord/04xm4dr.pdf

so it looks like you'll need some sort of BUS or DIN cable splitter for the MP3 player.

they are probably right about loosing the voice stuff coming from the navi. if its similar to GM vehicles with OnStar, which runs all you voice stuff through the factory radio, you can't put a aftermarket head unit and have it integrated with your navi, or in the case of OnStar ppl their OnStar system. like e3NiNe said, the factory head units use a port on the back of the radio for accessories to be plugged into.
