Default Lug Pattern Question?

why is that when you go from like 4x100 to 4x114 to 5x114 is it so much more expensive? why is it that people desire 5 lugs so much? i don't get it isn't it just a bolt pattern?

but why pay so much for a specific lug pattern like 5 lug? any real gains other than 1 more lug to put on and take off?

i believe the more lugs, the stronger the connection to the wheel and stuff. i mean, i guess. that's why big trucks have more lugs. :dunno:

The more forces your wheels need to handle, the more lugs you need to keep the wheel from shearing off the lug bolts under braking and acceleration. That's why a lot of trucks have 8 or more lug bolts and performance cars have 5, while your good old Honda Civic only has 4.

When people refer to 5 lug in the honda world it usually means the WHOLE brake swap. Swaping to itr/ctr brakes. That means 11" front rotors, 10" rear, larger calipers, the whole hubs, sometimes control arms, etc. They're arent just paying for more lugs (well a lot of jdm fags aka honda-tech are).
