Default problems with radio reception, aftermarket JVC head unit

I just installed a JVC head unit in my 2000 accord this weekend. Works great, except the radio reception is now terrible. Channels that were crystal clear with the factory unit are now static. I plugged the large radio antenna plug into the right side of the head unit. I saw a blue wire for the antenna on the wire harness I bought, but nothing on the head unit that matched up. Is there a wire on the harness that has to be connected, or is the big antenna plug the only thing? I'm ready to put the factory unit back in if I can't get this worked out.

the blue wire is for the motor antenna. For reception you only need the big antenna plug. Could be something wrong with the deck then. Warranty?
