Default ECU Help

Hey,

Ill start off by saying that i do not have hardly any knowledge of ecu's. my question is, what would be the benefits of putting a different ecu into my 2000 honda civic ex? also, what ecu do i have alrdy and what obd thing is it?

you have an OBD2 ecu. I think its a p2e but not completly sure. What kind of ECU were you planning in putting on anyway?

im not sure what ecu id put in, im not sure what the difference is between them, i saw a guy selling a p28 and a guy selling a jdm p30.

p28 and p30 are both OBD1 ECU's they wouldnt even clip into your wiring harness. The P30 is a OBD1 b16 ECU and the p28 is a D16 OBD1 ECU neither of them would do anything for you

What kind of modifications do you have done to your engine?
try www.hondata.com they can provide you with some more info.
You would have run and obd-1 ecu (p28 or so) and a jumper (obd2 - obd1).
Unless you have extensive mods done, it's not really worth spending the dough on the ecu. Stay away from the $15 ebay chips they are worthless.
If you do chip your ecu, don't go with a static chip go with something programable so you can make changes in the tune as you make changes to the motor....
