Default FS: 1998 Honda Prelude Turbo Show Car

I need to sell my Prelude show car asap. Last year, I purchased a new BMW M3 convertible and am now using that as a new project car. I have tried selling the car on ebay a few times. Each time it recieved around 5000-9000 hits, but most people on there do not seem to understand what is in this car. Thus, they were offering much less than what is realistic for this car. I have spent around $40k in mods on this car, purchased it new in 98, and it has always been a single owner car (and a garage queen). It has been used as a show car for around 4 years, and has barely been driven or seen anything outside of the garage. It has 25k miles on it and only 1300 on the built motor. It runs great and hauls some serious ass. There has been some person on cardomain.com claiming this car to be his, but I assure you it is not. If you are seriously interested, then please contact me. I am asking $24k obo. Here is a list of mods:

Yes I did say 24,000. I spent a total of $63,000 on this car including the price of the car new. All parts were purchased new. I spent around $15,000 on the engine, drivetrain, dyno, labor, etc. The stereo system in the car cost $10,000. I am sure if you were to add up the cost of all the parts, you would arrive at around $40,000 in mods. BTW, the blue book on a stock 98 Prelude with 25k miles in mint condition is $10,500. So IMHO, I don't think asking around $14,000 for $40,000 in mods is unreasonable...

i had a 97 civic coupe. i did a 2000 si front end conversion. i put a euro accord-r h22 motor in it (first one in the united states!) and about 10,000 in turbo and engine mgmt. (dyno'd 347 @ wheels). i was still co-owner of a major stereo shop, so i had upwards of 40,000 in stereo equipment and interior mods. probably the most famous body shop in the southeast did all my exterior work, also around 10k. i had 6500 in wheels and tires for god sakes! i could have bought a house for what a spent on this car.

i sold the car in 2001...

for 9,800

Well sounds you had some bad luck then. People who have seen my car think that $24k is a steal for it. You do realize I can get more than $10k for this car stock? The blue book on a stock Prelude with 25k miles is 10,600 in this area. I just think it is insane that some of you think that asking $24k obo is too much for this car...no offense. If you want I can list the prices of all the items for this car individually. Just because you sold your 97 Civic for $9800 doesn't mean that this is how much some other car is worth. Every car is done differently and thus has a different value. What would you expect me to sell my somewhat modded 2003.5 BMW M3 convertible for? $25k?

Oh really, what do you have done to your IS300? I have an IS300 also...it is a 2001 as well. I can get $20k for it stock. Please list all your mods since you claim you have a lot more done to it. I would like to see your list of mods since it seems you have it really decked out.

i didnt mean you should take 9,800 for your car! i agree it is worth alot more.
im just saying you will have a diificult time getting your asking price.
im still working on my del sol with 20k in it so far and no end in sight.
i also realize im going to get taken to the cleaners on the resale. but thats not why i do these cars, its for the love of the mods and the looks and comments i get from fellow car lovers.

if i could sell all my cars, projects, spare parts, and tools..
i could pay off my house..
two times over

you could part it out, or......
you do have another option

You have to find the right buyer for a car with mods to that extent.

For the most part mods retain about .00001% of their original cost for most buyers.

I'd really say around 15k if reasonable
