Default Lots O Help!

Hello,

Brand new to these forums. I'm pissed I didn't find them earlier. I've had a 1993 Del Sol Si with the D16z6 for about 8 months now and it's been good to me despite the problems it has. I have quite a few questions and please bare with me. I'm sorry my first post has to be tons of ?'s.

Question 1
The targa top leaks at the corners of the window and the top. What suggestions can anyone give to me about how to stop the leaks? It's killing the smell and comfort of my car!

Question 2
When I first got the plugs I pulled them out to replace them and they had white deposits on them. I've done some research but so many places have so many different answers about what this means. Let me add more to this discussion as well. After about 2 weeks my car builds up black soot on my back bumper, which is obviously coming from my exhaust. I'm thinking the plugs and this are related to a fuel problem. I have tried fuel injector cleaner but did not help to my knowledge. What do you think this could be? Is it common? Is it a fuel injector problem? Any help in this subject would be GREATLY appreciated. One more thing to add here, during WOT I've noticed every once in a while it either spurts white or black smoke. When it smokes black, that's where the soot is coming from I believe.

Question 3
I believe this is a seperate problem from question 2 but who knows, it could be related. I'm going through a small amount of oil. And it varies how much I put in, because one week it might not lose any but another it could go through half a quart (give or take). I don't see leaks so obviously it's burning, what exactly do you think this could be? Rings?

Question 4
I have very low idle (Probably around 100rpms) but I am throwing a code 14 (I think, has been a while since I did this). Which when I was looking up meant a Idle control sensor problem or something. I cannot adjust my idle speed at the throttle body (the screw that adjusts intake of air). So what part do I need exactly to fix this? Sorry if this is to vague.

Sorry to bombard these forums with questions when I havn't contributed anything. Hope I can get some help and thank you in advance! Peace

1: This has been covered.. Search
2: Sounds like a rich problem. Could be broken diaphragm in regulator.
3: *could* be piston rings, rings sound like the most valid answer I can give you.. anyway
4: Sounds like IAC on the throttlebody.. Haynes manuals have a way of checking them I believe with a multimeter, or look it up, sorry I couldnt be of more help, never had a IAC problem.

Oh, and your car is *running* at a verified 100rpms? Must be rough as hell, surprised it doesnt die.

ya sounds like your reading pretty rich. especially if your getting black smoke from the exhuast. and when you say white smoke, its proably just water vapor, but if the smoke is not really white but a light blue..then your burning oil...which would explain your oil thing and might be do to piston rings.

Thanks for the help. Could it just be running WAY to rich? if it is does changing the timing help much? Because during the summer I adjusted the valves, put a new fuel filter in, and checked the timing and it seemed to be right on. Could fuel injectors affect something like this?

Fuel injectors *could* cause this to happend if they were sticking open too long.. That isnt common though.

The timing wont affect how rich you run.
