Default Leaking oil from valve cover

So when I was working on my car, I noticed oil leaking out of the left side of the valve cover, bumper side. What could cause this? Faulty valve cover gasket? It shouldn't be hard to replace right?

Brett:
Vincent said the valve cover studs are sensitive and overtorquing them could ruin the gasket. Any troof to this? Do you have torque specs?

Also while you have the cover off you want to replace the spark plug seals in the valve cover if it has them.

You don't need to tighten them much. Overtorquing won't ruin the gasket, but it can snap the the studs that the bolts go onto. Since the bolts have the little seals underneath them, you just need to get them until they are tight. I don't know the torque spec off hand, but once they get tight with a rachet, stop.
