Default 1st to 2nd grinding at around 6000rpm pls help

94' LS 79,000miles
the problem im having is with grinding gears
from 1st to 2nd when i shift too quickly at anything
around 6,000rpm.
it grinds if i dont give it a second between gears, even
when I push the clutch all the way in.
I know its not my clutch, my clutch grips strong still
so I am considering short shifter or shifter bushings,
but i am unfamiliar with both of them, or maybe
i need my transmission flushed?

I want to be able to shift gears faster and smoother
without worrying about grinding, I have always driven 5spd
so im not a whack ass driver slamming gears.

It has nothing to do with your clutch or transmission fluid. You can try some gm syncromesh fluid, but I doubt it will help much.

You have a bad synchronizer in your transmission. It's pretty common with honda transmissions.

I heard that short shifters will make your car grind gears

ShortShifters aren't good even if you go with something like the skunk2. I don't think bushings or a new shifter will fix your problem.

Wrong, another misconception. It's the driver's error, not the shifter.

:werd: I have the skunk2 and have not once missed a gear. If you aren't reckless with the stick, it wont grind.

But yeah, it sounds like a synchro. I doubt it is worth it to get it replaced, so you might look for a used tranny somewhere.

Heres the thing, I dont always have this problem, only occasionally.
also my transmission has been driven nicely and is very young,
it almost feels like my clutch is not disengaging fast enough, is that possible?

does it only happen at high rpms? if so then it is just the first phase of your synchro going bad. if you dont want to grind when you're driving "spiritedly" from second to third you should try double clutching. if you dont know what that is, it is basically clutching out of second and putting it in neutral, releasing the clutch, depressing the clutch again, up shift, and release the clutch. i hope i described it well enough for you to understand.
