How often should I replace transmission fluid?
I noticed it's getting harder to get it into gear now, especially 3rd and 5th. Maybe it's time to change tranny fluid? I'm at 97k by the way.

Definitely change it dom. I usually change it every 30k.

GM Sycromesh, Chevy trans are known to be crap but when it comes to GM's tranny fluid, its the best. Its like the only reason why Chevy transmission even last how long they do, without it good luck taking it out of the dealers lot hahah

I just use 10w40 non synthetic motor oil. Works like a charm.

Yodub, I can predict your future, you will be shoping for a new/rebuilt tranny soon. You want to use th right fluid in there. Motor oil will work, but should only be used briefly. I have used Redline MTL for about 4 years now with good results. I am told that it will lead to prematrue synchro wear, but I have not noted any problems. I thought the tranny fluid was supposed to be changed like every 35k.

Well I've been using 10/40 motor oil for about 3 years now, still shifts like day 1. I've heard of more people having problems with Redline than motor oil, because it's so thin. Tranny fluid is just an oil anyways.
