Default New civic si coupe engine possibility?

We all know honda will be coming back with an Si coupe(I have no idea why, I thought the 02-05 Si hatchback was sweet besides the engine). But because we are Americans and we love coupes and the 99-00 Si coupe sold so well, The new si will return as a coupe. Now what engine to put in it? I figure Honda/Acura will keep the RSX platform for many more years to come with just minor enhancements because it is selling so well, exactly like the integra(1994-2001). But you know how Honda doesnt want to sell a faster civic than the RSX or they will be losing money, and that is why they wont put in a RSX type S engine in the new SI coupe. Well, I noticed that the new 05 RSX type S has 10 more ponies than the previous 02-04 type S. This was achieved by higher lift cams and longer runners in the intake manifold. SO now the type S is 210 HP. Hmmm...., could this mean that Honda will put the older k20 type S motor with 200 HP in the new Si??? On paper the rsx will seem faster because of the 10 extra horses and along with the luxory of leather and stuff should keep buyers interested in buying the RSX over the Civic SI, but also because of the power increase and potential of the REAL k20 motor, buyers who quite cant afford the RSX will buy the Si instead of going for an SRT,golf, celica GTS. In the end, Honda doesnt lose sales and money. Just a theory I thought I would share with ya.

I would rather see them stick with the hatchback. I used to have a 2000 si coupe. It would have been better as a hatch.

I think the SI Coupe will get the k20 (160 ponies) because they won't use 2 engines for the SI. Also I think it's not really comparable between the RSX and the SI because of the Tranny and the " Supposed 2 be cool options like the bose 7 spker with Richbass" stuff like that will keep the difference between both rsx and SI.

I dont think they will be offering 2 engine choices for the new Si, just the 200 HP K20 along with the RSX 6 speed tranny. The reason why the 2002-2005 Hatch si didnt sell so well besides the fact it was a hatchback was becasue of the mediocre engine. Along with the new RSX engine being 10 ponies more powerful, the new RSX tranny also has a better final drive for higher top speed. SO therefore the oolder type S tranny will be there also, again this is a theory.

There is actually a two year old agreement that would allow Honda to market a car that might compete with the Acura RSX Type S.

When that agreement was made public, everybody instantly thought the EP3 was going to come with a K20A2, but it never materialised, and now the first line is at its model end. Sometimes Honda will introduce a high performance version of a car to boost sales the last year before a model change, so it's still a possibility, but remote.

The K motors in the now famous Far East coupes is their equivalent of the K20A3, but the series they competed in allowed enough modifications for them to come out on top.

The way that Honda is playing with computers and mild improvements, I wouldn't put it past them to have a 180 HP K motor in a new Civic platform. That'd make sense, marketing-wise.

The K20Z1 motor only has 10 HP more than the K20A2 motor, but they made enough other changes that I hear it's like you're driving a completely different car. Torque everywhere, quicker acceleration. If they do something similar w/the new Civic line, they wouldn't necessarily even need 200 HP.

All I can say is I like the coupe better than the hatch, in fact I almost despise the hatch look on the new Si's. Tear Drop is all I can say
