Default Significance of 9mm wires?

Hey everyone, im in the market for new plugs and wires and have done some searching on forum. Debating over whether to upgrade to 9mm wires. I've read some conflicting opinions, is there a benefit to upgrading to 9mm wires or just keeping the stock ones i got a 95 GSR. Also what are the best spark plugs to buy out there some people swear by bosch others say they suck and to go with NGK. Any opinions out there?

IMO wires are wires... and having a bigger wire is supposed to deliver a stronger spark to the plug but the way i see it, the spark can only be as strong as the ignition.... if you're expecting a power gain from wires, you're gonna be sorely disappointed. i just buy the cheapies for my cars

I use Bosch platinums because they're significanly less expensive than the NGKs. They work just as well. Plug wires aren't a big source of gain or loss HP-wise either, and unless you're running a high voltage setup, your standard plug wires or replacements will do you just fine.

Stocks/NGK's are plenty good. No need to bother with aftermarkets.

Unless your stock wires are causing some sort of a problem or they've reached their scheduled replacement time, there's no reason to get rid of them.

There is an article on T-I.net that can give you the low down on spark plugs. I use the NGK G-Power Platinum, inexpensive and get the job done.

Wires won't gain you anything.......your ignition system only puts out as much power as it needs, so yeah your wires might be able to hold a lot but I guarantee unless you are running with some serious resistance somewhere........you won't even see close to what your wires are rated for. Its like all those guys who add a MSD to their car thinking it'll help

Default 9mm wires

I have experiance with both stock, accel 8.5mm, and NPC 9.5mm. Out of all of them, I thought my 8.5mm ACCEL worked best.

The stock ones work great too, but there the same cost for some aftermarket 8.5mm colored wires. I personally think aftermarket wires offer an increase in throttle response. THen again, Ive only tested them AFTER my stocks needed replacement, so I cant honeslty say there better than stock.

8.5MM look better, cost the same, and fit inside the wires holders like stock ones do.

9.5mm WILL NOT FIT in your stock wire harness. You will have to remove some plastic in order for them to lay down nicely.

9.5mm offered about the same response that I got from the 8.5mm.

Acura Dealerships will also tell you to ditch the 9.5mm if they see them. I went round and round recently with a misfire problem, they swore was caused by my 9.5mm wires which Im still using, but I'll do 8.5mm next time around. The 9.5mm is nothing but a marketing plow.

Oh... I was told the APC 9.5mm are HIGH resistance which you dont want so Im down with 8.5mm wires. NGK seem to be the best EVER so I have been told.

Also, that dude whom said to use BOSCH plugs needs to be smacked silly. BOSCH plugs SUCK and there GERMEN! Also, the white tips are KNOWN to chip off and end up in a vavle....

CASE AND EXAMPLE.... ME!

Look up my name, check my posts. I went round and round and round about a misfire issue I had. Did EVERYTHING, only to be told I need a vavle job. Upon doing the vavle job, guess what they found? You guessed it, a BOSCH white cap inside...

NEVER BY BOSCH YOU CHEAPO's! Buy NGK or DENSO.

Peace and chicken grease.

Anyone know of Wicked garage in Garden Grove? There doing my rebuild. Going Type R vavles all the way around, cam sprokets, and timming belt.

(I will not flame this post, I will not flame this post, I will not flame this post)
I've ran them in two different cars for six years without incident.

The stock NGK platinum plugs are twenty-seven dollars a piece. The Bosch platinums were five bucks a piece. I've run the Boschs in the Integra in both stock form and with 15lbs boost in turbo trim for over a year of club racing and autocross. NGKs are jim-fine-and-dandy, but it's my opinion they aren't worth their price tag.

The whole "high" or "low" resistance arguement is a marketing scam in itself. It doesn't really matter how much resistance the wires have, the spark still has to arc over a ~.040" gap. .040" of free air space is pretty damn high resistance.

If you all care so much about spark energy, get a CDI box like an MSD or Jacob's ignition and stick with NGK wires.

On a sub note, larger wires (9mm+) tend to have the same core size as the smaller wires, only with more insulation.
