Default Is this normal???

While looking at somthing else on my car today i noticed that when i turn the front wheels back and forth a clunking sound is made.

I cant tell if its from the tranny or maybe a bad CV??

It happenes when the tranny is in or out of gear...Im just wondering if its normal for somthing to click when you have both wheel off the ground and you turn a wheel back and forth.

It does not click all the way though the turning, just when changing directions...like moving it one way, then moving it the other way, when changing the direction, it will click. Hope that made sence.

Matt

Does it happen when the car is moving, or when it's parked?

When its parked i guess, i have the front end off the ground and am turning one of the tires back and forth, and it knocks with a change in turning direction.
