Default My Timeslip

Hey went to the track today. This was my first time ever, so I didn`t really do so well. I ran a 15.450 at 92.98. I got there pretty late so i only had time for two runs. I`m going back saturday and hopefully I can pull out some 14's. My biggest problem is launching. I tried dumping the clutch that definately didn`t work out, all I did was spin through all three gears. Then I tried slipping the clutch and that worked a little better. I hope to get the hang of it soon. I guess practice makes perfect right.

The launch is the most important thing. Get that right and the rest is just mashing the pedal and moving the shifter around.

The trap speed shows room for improvement on the ET. Not bad for your first time to the track.

Thanks, yeah I definatley need to learn some clutch work. The track is so much different from the streets. I was so used to just dropping the clutch at 3 grand on the streets. At the track you loose traction so much easier. I`ll learn though.

My experiences have shown the opposite. I tend to get a lot better traction at the track. I am usually able to feather at around 4500rpms with minimum wheel spin, as opposed to 3500rpms in umm... autocross.

It depends on the strip. The last strip I went to, I couldn't do anything but spin in first and most of second, no matter what (a common complaint that night). I think it was due to poor maintenance and, as the night went on, there was definitely some oil being put down.

On my usual strip, I can take off at 3000 without much spin in the Ion and I can wind it up to redline and dump it in the Bug.
