It depends on the strip. The last strip I went to, I couldn't do anything but spin in first and most of second, no matter what (a common complaint that night). I think it was due to poor maintenance and, as the night went on, there was definitely some oil being put down.

On my usual strip, I can take off at 3000 without much spin in the Ion and I can wind it up to redline and dump it in the Bug.
