Default D16Z6 vs. D16Y8

Hey everyone! Its been awhile since I've last posted but life's been busy between school and work. In the last couple of months, I've recently purchased a 1995 Civic EX with 120,000 miles, 5 spd, and all the bells and whistles but all of that is regardless. My question is, what are the differences between the D16Z6 and the D16Y8 motors? They are both in the EX models between 92-00. Are there any major differences?

Z6 is from '92-'95 and is run by an OBD-I ECU, Y8 is from '96-'00 and run by an OBD-II ECU. Aside from that the main differences are in piston dome and combustion chamber volume.

The combustion chamber shapes are also different. The d16z6 has a hemispherical shape and the d16y8 combustion chamber is squared. The d16z6 combustion chamber holds more volume than the d16y8. Because of the d16y8 smaller combustion chamber, the head yields higher compression than the d16z6.

depends what you wanna do.. n/a or boost? n/a probably d16y8 for higher compression.. although when you go to do internal mods it wont' make too much difference for you will be getting higher compression pistson for either.. so i'd say stick with your d16z6 and build that.. they both have ~ same hp and tq... if any difference at all.. i'd stay with OBD-I over OBD-II anyway

The d16z6 flows better and it's good for high end power.

Well what about the z6 head on an d15b7 block. Is this a good set-up and why? What mods are best for this set-up?
