and the oil pressure gauge is coming on too so i was wondering if it swallowed a ring? but there was no oil in the cylinder and what would be wrong with the valves?

The valves have hydrolic lifters in them that depend on oil pressure to "lift". If you have no oil presure, they will clatter like hell, and you should not be running the car. First you should figure out why you have no oil pressure. Is it low on oil? Maybe you have a bad pump. :dunno: Is this the car that's totalled?

My B16A clatters for 2 secs or so during a cold start....it goes off once the oil light goes off...is that bad??

i'm using 10w-30 which is pretty thin...thicker oil seems to make it clatter more...
