Default RSX or Civic Type R

I have a decision to make either putting a B16B engine in my 98 civic or going ahead and buying an RSX type S. I dont know what to do because my civic is basically paid for i have some mods already on the civic. The RSx is a nice car but what do u think HP difference is in the Type S from the Type R and what would be faster with no engine mods to either ones Thanx

Well first off, the b16b is an overpriced overrated engine and you'd be wasting ~$2 grand using it.

Second, you may have some mods already but chances are they won't fit on the new engine.

RSX Ss run 14.8-15.2ish stock. That's near what you would run with a b16 or b18c swap. Obviously stuff varies here, but most unmodded swaps I've seen run someplace from 14.3 and up.

i can spend up to 4000 on an engine if i have to spend that much, it would be nice if i didnt have to spend that much but if it comes to it i can spare 4000, because i can get the type r for 3800 and a GSR for 3200

Well you'd probably get more power than your existing D series, but the GSR engine is rated for 180 hp while the B16B is 170 hp. The B16B is also pretty much at the optimum performance point for the B16 series, so you won't get much more performance out of it without forced induction or something similar. It's also rare, so it's pretty expensive for what you're getting. I'd go with a GSR engine over the Si's or the Type R's.

EDIT: Sorry I messed up the power specs. B16B is good for 185 and B18C1 is good for 170.
