Default Rx-7 & 200sx

So, I was cruising down Rt.610 at my usual 50mph, and this 200SX with an exhaust hits it and buzzes by me. He got a couple cars ahead, and slowed so I would catch up to him.

I laughed my ass off, and just kept cruising at 50. :fawk:

i wouldnt want to race a 200sx either. They're like my car, but with a lot more technology.

I was under the impression that the early rx7s werent that fast. I raced a first generation from about 60-115mph and he was right beside me the whole way.

Good thing I don't have a first gen, '86 was the first year of the FC body. 146hp/138ft-lbs before modification. The old SA/FB body was around 105hp with similar torque, but the body was a bit lighter too.

Professional Rotary engine builders recommend frequent redlining to prevent carbon buildup in the engine.

I do need to pick up an HKS SAFR though, it keeps running too rich.

It's which ever year has dual exhaust stock. The 1st gen's specs seemed a little low to be able to keep up with me but ehh I dun know

Gen 1 Rex is a fun car for spec classes at the road courses. Decent handling and slow enough to not get you in big trouble. The Gen 2 is more of a GT than a sports car. Was very nice and reasonably quick in turbo form for the day. The Gen 3 is probably one of the most well-rounded platforms ever built, shame they're so fragile.

gen 3's kicked ass. i always give them respect. i count the number of them ive seen runnin low 11's at the track.

but your right the engines in the third gens defantely didnt take to the boost al that well. gettin 70,000 miles on a stock is nearly impossible on them, but if its just gonna be used as a track car then that doesnt really matter. i nearly bought one but at the time i couldnt afford to be be replacin the engine if it went in the near future, i regret it to this day.

GT car my ass, it's a direct improvement over the first gen. It isn't porky and plush like a GT car, either. It doesn't look like it, but the FC's actually are a bit lighter then the FD's and have pretty much the exact same performance potential. Don't confuse the second gen with a Supra or 3000GT, it is a much lighter car of a more performance oriented design.

I do agree about the FD's being fragile, but that is more of a result of the vacuum and electrical systems, amoung other things. The 13B-REW engine actually is stronger then both 13BT engines, however the -REW just doesn't last as long. Weird.

Oh, and stay far away from '93 FD's unless you want to rebuild the whole car, fast.
