Default Question for a friend but an all type r engine claiming 300+ hp

Alright guys my friend has a 88 honda crx and he's got a friend with a crx with another friend who built an all type r motor i'm guessing off an itr and he's claiming that its got 300 horse. The guy says everything is all "type r" and he'll sell it for 400 because he needs the money, but i don't really know anything about honda's/acura's but i know that the integra type r but if i remember right it had around 200 hp so 100 more horses is it really likely that if my friend buys it and dyno's it he'll be getting around 300 at the crank or wheels. I'm not sure if its n/a supercharged or turbo. We're gonna go check it out but it seems fishy how his friend won't buy it and his friends friend that built it won't use it. I'm guessing high miles?? Would he be looking in the 12's if this is true? his crx is actually down its leaking tranny fluid and he needs to go get that prob fixed and a new clutch (2nd clutch he's been through in 7 months) for his car. We're installing a DC sports short shifter when those probs are solved. Well thanks for your help gentlemen.

It has to be fake or ****ed if he is selling it for $400. It is impossible to find a b18c5 for that cheap. It is possible to make 300whp with a itr motor, it would require a turbocharger. I have never seen a NA b series with that much power. From the info you said it sounds like complete bs.

Oh and the b18c1 is the low compression most common for turbo and supercharging and the c5 is high compression for n/a right? sorry for my lack of knowledge

The b18c1 has lower compression but it still isnt that low. The b18c1 has a 10.1:1 compression and the c5 has 10.6:1. You get less detonation with lower compression.

Stock, the b18a/b is probably the safest engine to turbocharge, but you'll see more gains with the higher compression of a b18c1... that is if you can keep it from detonating.

That's impossible.

The only Type-R motor that was 1.6 is the B16B. The most you could get out of one of those by boring would be about 1.7 liters, maybe 1.9 if you stroke it at the same time. If you resleeve it and bore it, you might see 2.1L

Chances are it is a D16 of some sort, and the owner is an idiot.

I told him what you guys said and man my friend is being dumb he told some other friends of mine it'll be a 10 second car and in top gear it'll top at around 200 mph. Poor friend even if its a b16 or a zc you know it'll be better than his stock crx engine which has like 115xxx miles even if the engine he wants to get has 80 it still isn't bad as long as everything is mechaniclly sound. Hey u gonna have a hybrid Fc what engine you putting into it. I heard of a FD going into the 11's with the sr20 with the stock shortblock which isn't to bad. They probably got it into the 10's by now. Its a redtop

Uhh... that's a Nissan engine.

I'm using a 13BT, single turbo two rotor from a GT-R, GT-X or Infini I/II (Japanese market FC's.) I'm converting it to a pseudo-Infini, hopefully seeing mid 13's or better by spring.
