How much transmission fluid to fill tranny?

Default How much transmission fluid to fill tranny?

Would anyone happen to know how much transmission fluid a 98 civic lx manual transmission would take to fill up tranny?

I think it is right at 2 quarts at least that is what Chiltons says

its actually like 1.5qts but just fill until it runs out of the "level check/fill" hole

would i need a new washer for fill hole or can i use the old one?

Servicing the transmission takes a little less than filling a totally empty one. Just like coolant systems, and engine oil.

1.5qts if you're just servicing it, and 1.8-1.9qts if it's a bone dry transmission.

can i get a washer for fill hole at local auto part store or only from honda? is it same washer as drain hole?

If it's a copper crush washer, you can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot in the plumbing section. If it's an aluminum washer, I've block sanded them with 400 grit, and re-used them (as long as they weren't distorted to start out with) and never had any problems.

Edit: My local Pep Boy's has them on the aisle with the HELP products. Most auto parts stores should carry them, too.
