heater smells like gas..?
Sorry, man-
Your first post, & nobody got back with you on this. Probably because it's an unusual question, & relatively uncommon too.
All I could think of is :
1) you've definitely got to discern whether it's fuel or exhaust that you're smelling.
2) You're absolutely sure it's coming from the vents? More likely would be an exhaust leak letting exhaust into your cabin. Have you done any work lately on your exhaust?
3) Are you letting this car warm up outside or in the garage (sorry, had to ask). But even an exhaust leak would stink up the car if parked outside.
4)A while back (within the last 10 days) someone posted a pic of their WHITE Integra with the back bumper off. Clearly visible in the shot was some sort of vent ,down low on the left quarter panel rearward of the back wheel. What's up with this vent thing? Anybody? As the fuel filler is on that side, a leak for your gas tank's venting would be a prime suspect for allowing raw fuel vapor to enter the cabin in that area.
5) Of course, you've checked under the hood for anything questionable like fuel/exhaust leaks as well as the intactness of your fresh air ducting system (?)
Get back with us with anything you've found since.
Good luck,

thanks for that.. i noticed that when i have the cycle button on ( the one with the arrow kinda goin in a circle lit up orange) it does not smell really. and the smell is mainly when ive been driving and then stop at a light it then begans to smell, ya almost positive its exhaust no visible leaks or spots on the ground. nothing has been done lately to the engine *its kinda like riding in a vw bug that ghetto gas type smell.. thanks for the help.
i think your fuel rail or something associated is leaking, and the vapors are getting to the HVAC fresh air inlet located at the base of the windshield.
to try and find the leak:
1. park your car in a very well ventilated area, preferably with a fan blowing into the engine bay.
2. start the car, you dont have to let it warm up. in fact it may be safer to do this with the engine cold.
3. pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator. this will cause the fuel pressure to rise to max.
4. follow all the fuel lines in the engine bay to make sure you dont see any fuel leaking out of them. then look around the fuel rail and injectors to see if you are leaking there.
thats about it to check for a fuel leak. and remember NO SMOKING!!!
