Just picked up an old JET CTAS 10-1 3hp cabinet saw. I will be restoring it, but my question is this. It has a Bies. fence, but the scale/rule on the front rail is warn and barely readable. Anybody have a good source for replacement sticker? Also, I am planning on adding a router to the right side extension. This one has 7 foot rails so plenty of room on the right side extension to turn it into a router table as well to utilize the Bies. fence. Any recommendations on how to accomplish this task? New to the wood world, and def. new to actual quality equipment. My stuff I have been using is crappy 100 dollar home depot stuff.

I'm still trying to get the time to add my router table insert to my Ridgid TS. Both Woodcraft and Rockler have reputable products for accomplishing this. I would build a cross cut sled as well for your table. Check out http://www.thewoodwhisperer.com/ for high quality products. Seriously. I would highly recommend looking into a dust collection system. I have the one from Rockler and it works pretty well, but a lot of people say that the one from Harbor Freight works just as well, for less money.

 

Is it the stock one that Rockler is always putting on their sale sheets?

 

Probably. The Dust Right. But it's only 3/4HP, and for the same price the HF one is 2HP. So, if I were starting over, I'd get that one.

oh hell yeah!

I plugged her in and ran a few boards through her to make sure it ran right. Purrrrrs like a kitten. Bearings are quiet and adjustments move smoothly. I think I need to get a good blade angle gauge to make sure it is trued. I was out of town all weekend so no progress, but I will be around this weekend and will be stripping the fence rails and angle iron down to bare metal and re-painting it cause it is all chipped and surface rusted. Also need to resurface the table top, again surface rust. It's been sitting for like 5 years un-used in a garage. Also I need to track down belts for this thing as all three of them have seen better days.
