Question about reading ECU codes.
ok heres the deal. i have a hunting idle problem, first step would be read any stored codes in the ECU. after jumping the termanals on the service connector and turned the key to ON the usual stuf happens except the the CEL comes on and stays on no flashes, none it just stays light till you pull the jumper. then it goes out and the ABS light comes on. I was lead to believe that if there were no codes the CEL would come on once as a "hello" then go off. any ideas?
also if it matters or not just so you know it a 92 Prelude si.

This worked with my wife's '86 Legend that had a weird idle issue:
Pull the Alt-Sense fuse for about a minute then replace it. I dont know if there is something labelled Alt-Sense on your car, but I think it would be in the fuse panel thats under the hood. Its probably a large relay, larger than the others.
Previous to doing that, I tried resetting the ECU by pulling battery power and the ECU fuse, but that didnt help. Pulling the alt-sense fuse did it.

Cutting power to the ECU for 15 seconds will always reset it. Doesn't matter which way you cut the power--battery, ECU fuse, or whatever. On the newer cars it's labeled BACK UP.
Just because your code didn't go away doesn't mean your ECU didn't reset.
